I wasn't yet 10 when I read this story for the first time -- and even back then, the future in this story seemed somehow old-fashioned to me, the cobbled streets of the 1950s and its inhabitants thrown forwards in time -- but, by golly, hasn't this story stuck in my mind. Impoaaible odds. Doing the right thing at enormous cost. A hands-down classic. One of Mr Gibbons' finest moments for 2000ad. It's fantastic that these pages still exist in such good condition. Fabulous job, too, framing them.

"Beyond the Alley of the Ultra-Vixens" is a fantasic title and this page certainly lives up to the title. The fourth panel is lovely - love that cityscape in the background.

A great cover -- possibly the last build-up story before Necropolis, one of the best Dredd epics, got underway. Some people seem to get a bit sniffy about the fully-painted art era of 2000ad but Mr Ezquerra's work was hugely enjoyable at that time. Another great addition to your collection, sir. (But the colour scheme - not that common - a tribute to Ray Steven's "Jeremiah Peabody's Polyunsaturated Quick-Dissolving Fast-Acting Pleasant-Tasting Green and Purple Pills"?)

Jaw-droppingly wonderful, sir. Incredibly sad to think that art like that was destroyed. I'm sure that you already know the story of this painting's survival: "This piece is thought to be one of only three surviving science fiction covers by Allen Anderson. From Robert Weinberg's A Biographical Dictionary of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists (1988), page 310, "'an unusual twist of fate' was reported as the reason behind the survival of this painting. When Fiction House, publishers of the magazine, went out of business in the sixties, all of the original art stored in its warehouse was burned by workers who saw no reason to keep the art. Fortunately, Frank Kelly Freas had rescued several of his own paintings years before." Later, as Freas told it, he took the Anderson painting, one of two, in trade for monies owed him when he was visiting the publisher to discuss his own artwork, shortly before the fire."
