Really cool to see Hampton's modern battle action interpretation of that particular cover since it had techniques which aren't used too often.  The red makes Hawkman's foes all the more sinister! 

What a head shot!  Shocking gritty violence style showing that Sean Phillips we've come to know today!

Swinging sixties slinky fashion!  The pose is one of joy and the whip leads the eyes around all the curves.  Very cool painted framing backdrop to allow her figure to look more dimensional in space.

Yeah, 80's is copper age.

This is the great high level quality artwork that Willingham and Gustovich achieved in the bronze age and brought more attention to the indie scene of the 80's.  A great production in sci-fi fantasy where anything goes!

This is a great example of Adam Warren from the period. I love the pencil on linen finish cardstock from that time.

Tony's ability to show such different weights and style in the hair is incredible. Plus those faces and varied features!

Looks great how Guice is able to mimic the styles and genres.  These could be seen more clearly on the print that was made that did not get obscured by the title logo.

Fashion model looks and stature.  Intereting how she's framed in front of the moon as opposed the opposite side to have more balance to the composition in this pin up.

It might be from the comic book "seasons" series after the show which Jeanty was very instrumental as the primary artist.  Still, this just proves that all cats are spawns of hell.

Really awesome work by Robertson who gets the character in two views in a leaning pose that is probably too complex for an action figure with articulation.

I was a Marvel fan back in the 70s, with little interest in DC books, largey due to the rigid house style at DC.  But Neal was the one artist in those days who's work was so good that he stood out, despite adhering to the DC look.  What a legacy he leaves behind.  This is a very beautiful, lifelike, and recognizable portrait!  

The inks here really make the atmosphere pulse to life! Love the Phantasm vibes this page gives. Congrats!

This settles any debate on who would win.  Banks is amazing at his craft in creating these concentrated scenes of chaos!

The lack of any written info on the piece makes me suspect that this was never published. But that should not detract from it's obvious quality. Congrats.

The first two panels with the architecture are really tight linework and great scene setting pieces to put place and time together for the rest of the panels that only focus on the character interactions and the fine large figure drawing. 

Well, this is cool. I've never seen a Chadwick Dazzler sketch before. It has a very Zen Concrete vibe to it.

One would normally associate a round window with James Bond as a gun barrel.  But given that there are little hearts and a cute Parisian girl on her bike and her baguettes, Bond is taking a shot at love.

Screentones and crosshatching help make the page so full of atmosphere.

I've been perusing Ha. for Sekowsky THUNDER Agents stuff.  Usually Inked by Giacoia and/or Joe Giella!  Gorgeous.

Early-on, when I was pretty small, I would buy the JLA if I didn't have enough Money from my Paper Route to get more than a book or two.  Basically because almost all of DC's Characters would be in One Comic.... The Covers were awesome, usually Inked by Murphy... but when I got it home, I was always disappointed.

And then soon after, when I found Kirby's stuff over at Marvel, I thought Mike looked like Kirby on Acid.  And it also had a crazy Jack Davis quality that I didn't appreciate as a kid.  But strangely, I LOVED Jack Davis' Marvel Westerns.  Damn<

Nice, Greg<  I really hated Mike's stuff when I was a kid... then I was hired to Ink "Radar" for Mark Evanier and it really changed my mind about Mike's work.  I LOVE it now.

Looks like some photo reference was used, but still done so well.  The background shading is particularly strong and consistent.

It's a mystery why they stop coloring, but the truth is probably deadlines and it wasn't going to show up in published form anyways.  It does make a lot of these look very complete.

Great texture on that cover.  Really like the 3D effect that it creates. Zipatone?

Screentone liberally used help them speed up the process of finishing pages as their workload is greater than what is expected here.  The visual result is fantastic in pages such as this, fully taking advantage of this style.

17 years -this art needs a comment. Love the look of the eclipse covers. A bit reminiscent of Airboy - love the drawing, the inks and the drama!!

Met Mr. Gilchrist once at a show and he seems to like meeting the fans just as much as his fellow artists, greeting everyone always with a smile and great attitude.  Quite a surprise here to see him tackle and redesign other characters to fit into the strip.
