Description

Dumbo "Baby Mine" concept painting by Mary Blair (1911-1978). 7.75"x 6" image on 8.25x 8.75" board. Showing slightly muted colors compared to her more emblematic artwork, this concept painting reflects her style before traveling on Disney's South American Goodwill Tour during her early years at the studio. Rendered in gouache on 5-field 5-peghole board, was used to plan the shot at the 40:02 mark of the film and was featured on page 70 of the book THE HIDDEN ART OF DISNEY'S MID-CENTURY ERA: THE 1950'S AND 1960'S by Didier Ghez. The board exhibits a Walt Disney Production stamp and was offered originally through the Courvoisier Art Program.
