The main focus of my collection is centered around Moby-Dick; or, The Whale by Herman Melville. Although a failure when released in 1851, the book resurfaced in 1920 and has since became known as one of the"best books ever written" as well as the greatest literary work ever published in the USA. My first encounter with Moby Dick was the Tom and Jerry cartoon parody, “Dicky Moe,” but it wasn’t until I saw Ricardo Montalban’s Captain Ahab-inspired turn as Khan Noonien Singh in Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan, that I first felt compelled to read Moby Dick. I was 16 the 1st time I read it, and it has been my favorite book ever since. I have read it 7 times over the years and I currently have 8 shelves of books dedicated to it and Herman Melville. After collecting various comic books that adapted it, I took it a step farther by getting Michael Kaluta to do a drawing based on a scene from the novel for me. I have since collected both published and unpublished original art inspired by this masterpiece. If you have any Moby Dick art that you want to part with, please feel free to contact me. I also like to collect convention sketches of Bullseye from Marvel's Daredevil. While I have more of these drawings, I've put more money into my Moby Dick collection – quality vs quantity.
