DescriptionDWJ painted this gorgeous 16"x20" Optimus Prime for the 2023 HeroesCon Auction. I'm thrilled to add this singularly unique piece to my collection so soon after it was announced DWJ is taking the reins of the new Transformers comic.The 1986 animated Transformers movie has always been one of my favorite movies, and its influence is clear in Daniel's work. great add, 2 years in a row you win on Second Day auctions, you win by them doing these after most of us left town! Also its great to see him do a painted pieve like this the colors take it to another level.

Yowza! What a stunning sketch of Optimus Prime by the amazing Daniel Warren Johnson. I guess you acquired this even before the new series was published--Lucky break for you. IMHO, Daniel's writing and art on Transformers is one of the best things to happen in comics in a long time. He single-handedly revived the Transformers brand and made the robot warriors cool again. I haven't seem much of DWJ's color work, but this sketch makes me think Daniel should do more of it. Great pick-up, congrats!
