Dick Briefer Frankenstein- Introduced in Prize Comics #7 (Dec. 1940), writer-artist Dick Briefer created his version of the famous Frankenstein monster. Considered by many including Don Markstein to be "America's first ongoing comic book series to fall squarely within the horror genre was a new incarnation of Frankenstein, which began in Prize Comics #7 (December, 1940)."

The feature ran for a very long time and has become one of the legendary features of the golden age of comics. It comes with a great provenance. Joe Simon editor of Crestwood had this single page and showed it to me over 30 years ago. After nearly a decade he agreed to part with it. He featured it in his book "The Comic Book Makers". In addition to the rarity and visual appeal, I love it because it is the Horror version of the monster and very much in keeping with the source material.

As far as I am aware this is the only known page from that serious period.

Sad that so few of these exist, I'm certainly glad to see this made through in tact! Just fantastic, from one of the great golden age stylists and pioneers.
