Wildfire by Mooney

Wildfire was the first good girl superheroine and the first comic book art Jim Mooney of Supergirl fame ever did. I commissioned him to revisit his original creation. The costume is original except that I asked that the Mother Hubbard bottom that she wore in the 1940's be replaced with the version he made for Men of Mystery this century. The pose and setting were my idea. I understand that the original Wildfire was based on Mooney's love interest at the time. He was something of a ladie's man.

POSTSCRIPT: By sheer coincidence, within 24 hours of my posting this piece, which I received months ago, I see that Jim Mooney has a (as near as I can determine) line by line copy of it for sale on Ebay. I am perturbed that the uniqueness of the piece is being compromised and flattered that he thought that my idea was worth doing again. Mine is the original, anybody who gets the one on sale 3-19-04 is getting a hand-drawn copy. POST POSTSCRIPT: As near as I can tell, the later version is a tracing, probably from a scan he took before he sent the original to me. Mine has bits of the blue pencil preliminary work, especially in the eyes and the newby has none, which makes sense.
