Description

Internet introduced me to the world of comic art collecting and in 1997, this was the first piece of art that I bought. It's still one of my favorites - I'm yet to come across a better Beetle original. I sent it to Mort Walker to have it inscribed (sacrilege to some, I know, I know...) and found this to be a good way to establish contact with these big old-time cartoonists: to a standard fan letter, you'd only get a reply from a secretary, but send in an original and you got through to the man himself. The same thing also worked for me with Hank Ketcham, Fred Lasswell and Johnny Hart.
