DescriptionWater skiing - the Arctic style?!Rymy-Eetu ("Rowdy Eddie"?) was an early, but enduring Finnish cartoon character who continued his escapades in different publications for over thirty years. The title character was a lumbering, bear-like but kind-natured man with almost superhuman strength. The episodes originally run without words, but for the book collections rhyming captions were added underneath the pictures. The artist Erkki Tanttu was an accomplished illustrator, especially known for his "Finnish Folk Saying" cartoons, but kept his comic strip style very straigth-forward, almost primitive. This strip is captioned "Eddie the Icebreaker". Social/Sharing |
