Description

Continuing the theme of the greatest heroes you never heard of, I present: The Bronze Terror! Now, if you're thinking that this is some western character, then you should know that this crimefighter fought Nazis and bad guys in the MODERN day -- well, modern day 1940s, that is. He appeared in Lev Gleason Publications' DAREDEVIL comic as a back feature -- and by the way, that was blue and red clad boomerang throwing DD, not the Man Without Fear that we all know and love today.

As far as I can tell, BT is the first Native American superhero published in comics. Interestingly enough, even though he fought criminals and saboteurs in the city, he rode around on a horse that also wore a skull-face mask similiar to BT's. Makes sense, because if you've got a secret identity, you wouldn't want people to see you riding the same horse as a civilian as they see your riding in your superhero identity. Slap a mask on the horse's face and no one is the wiser. Plus, you wouldn't want to get billed for the clean up of all that horse crap left on the city streets while you're fighting to save it.

The Terror and his noble steed are drawn here by the incomparable Darryl Banks. I've got over 30 commissions by Darryl, and let me tell you, its never enough. This man has the uncanny ability to draw any character incredibly. Simply one of the top talents that the comics industry has ever produced. Now, if only they had enough sense to use him. Seriously, I look at some comics today and think about how much better they'd look if Darryl had drawn them. Dynamite Entertainment, IDW Publishing -- you guys could REALLY use this man.

My thanks to Darryl for his umpteenth outstanding commission for me. More to come, as always. And head over to the Digital Comics Museum and read some Daredevil comics online featuring the Bronze Terror.

The Bronze Terror is 100% bad ass. Such an awesome character design. Darryl did an incredible job once again.

So often when you see the forgotten hero you realize why they've been forgotten. Then someone like Bronze Terror comes along :) Great work from Darryl - nice one Damon!

So often when you see the forgotten hero you realize why they've been forgotten. Then someone like Bronze Terror comes along and it's, like, how does this guy not have his own series? He could easily play against later Ghost Rider or the Phantom Stranger. Love the empty eyes on the horse. Great work from Darryl - nice one Damon!

Every time I see a new commission from Darryl in your collection, I realize that I REALLY need to get one for myself. Also, I've never heard of the Bronze Terror but he looks awesome!

Travis, I'd love to see you have Darryl draw one of your classic "Karate Kid vs....." pieces! Are there still any good opponents for him left that you haven't already tapped?:-)

Nice, Marvel or DC should snap up the Bronze Terror and Darryl Banks.

Roy, I'm wondering if the Terror won't eventually wind up at Dynamite Entertainment as part of their Project Superpowers lineup, since he's in the public domain now. Also, how cool would it be to see Darryl drawing all those PS characters?

I've got a fever... and the only prescription... is more Darryl Banks! What a fantastic pairing of a great character with a superlative artist. Everything you state about Darryl is the dead solid truth, and this incredible artwork proves it!
