This is a great cover. You can see where he's starting to develop his hellboy style with this issue.

One of Mignola's best. It's all so familiar now, but at the time...gimme some of what he's having!

I've commented on this one before, but it is one of the best Mignola covers ever as far as I'm concerned.

People always talk about his style, but many underlook his eye for striking composition.

What a tremendous piece.  You have some of the most reasonant Mignola pieces.  For some reason I can't leave a comment on the zombie with an axe but that's a stunner.

That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me on CAF.  Compliments like that were not in my collecting goals when I started in 1992, but it feels like I've just hit a milestone.

Spill the story of what animal you sacrificed and body part you gave up to make this happen.  Or frail person you barged out of the way to get to Mike's table first to get this...

Nope - no exciting story or upside down pentagram.  Mike had this and the DHP Wolfie Girl cover in his stack at a mid-90's SDCC for $400 each.  But oh, the art I passed on...
