DescriptionThis beautiful Gene Colan page depicts the Submariner as he begins his journey for the aptly titled story "The end of the quest". As a boy beginning my comic collecting in the mid 60's this was the first story arc I became transfixed with; it was a wonderful story, beautifully illustrated by Gene in his prime as an artist.Particularly of note is the bottom right panel with Namor about to carry an almost lifeless Dorma. Almost 50 years on it still resonates as an important trigger. Interestingly, the inking of Vinnie Colletta really compliments Colan's gentle yet fluid pencils, something he achieved with Kirby's Thor but definitely not Kirby's FF.Thanks to Bechara for letting this one go to reignite a childhood joy. Signifigantly I must also thank two fine gentlemen: Glen D Gold for his wise counsel and Will Gabri-El for his wonderful guidance and support across the process....two shining beacons within this wonderful hobby.
