Ace the Bat-Hound by Ron Salas

I love Ace the Bat-Hound. He is one of the sillier aspects of the Batman mythos, but I think that some light-heartedness is needed in the dark life of Batman. Ace’s Pre-Crisis appearances were fantastic. He became Bruce Wayne’s dog after he helped Batman save his owner, who conveniently had to give Ace away because of a new job. Ace had to wear the mask so that he could work with Batman without giving away Batman’s secret identity, since he was seen publicly as Bruce’s dog. He put on the mask himself thanks to a special device and knew to track down Batman and Robin on command thanks to a radio device in his collar. Ace’s appearances in the Batman: The Brave and the Bold animated series were a great example of how to use him in a fun and effective way. And I’m looking forward to his appearance in the Scooby-Doo Team-Up comic. Ace looks more awesome here than he ever has before, thanks to the immensely talented Ron Salas. Also, Ace actually looks like a German Shepherd, which greatly pleases me, since he usually looked like a generic brown dog in his classic comics appearances. Ron made the cape and mask work and I of course love all of the bats flying around him. Thank, Ron!
