Karate Kid vs. Iron Man by Bob Layton

Like a lot of fans, my first encounter with Bob Layton's work was in Iron Man. And he will always be the artist that I most associate with the Armored Avenger. He has of course worked on a ton of other excellent comics that I've enjoyed, from his Valiant comics work to his Future Comics work and a ton of other gigs at Marvel and DC throughout the years. So when I saw that he would be at Wizard World New Orleans this year, I contacted him about doing a Karate Kid commission. I gave Bob a few opponents to choose from, but Iron Man was the first choice on that list, and that's who we ended up going with. And I'm so glad we did! This commission rocked my socks off. I knew that Iron Man would look great, but Bob's rendition of Karate Kid is freaking fantastic! I love the fierceness in Val's face and no one makes Iron Man's armor look better than Bob. Huge thanks to Mr. Layton for hooking me up with this incredible addition to my collection!

Iron Man would probably be a bit cocky going into this fight. He'd probably hover in the air, taking his time to aim his repulsor rays at Karate Kid. But then, when Val Armorr uses his Legion flight ring to fly up at Tony super fast, I think it would surprise him long enough for Val to land a few destructive blows to his armor. Tony would try to recover, but Val has fought Kryptonians and Daxamites, so he's used to super strength and energy projections. Tony goes down, but later he builds a martial arts armor in case he ever meets Val again.
