I've been a fan of Andrew's art for years and I made sure that I backed his Head Lopper 2 Kickstarter last year. I pledged in the reward tier which got me a commission from Andrew, of course, because that's my thing. I've been contemplating having Andrew draw me a Karate Kid commission for some time, but never could decide on an opponent. Well, I had seen some drawings Andrew had done of this character Joe Mars, and I thought that he looked pretty cool, but I didn't know anything about him. I asked Andrew if Joe would be a good opponent for Val Armorr, and he said that he would, so we went with it! And the result was great! I love Andrew's take on Karate Kid here, and how he has the opponents landing simultaneous blows here. And that look on Val's face is hilarious! I also had Simon Gough put some beautiful colors on it to make it look even better. Thanks so much, Andrew and Simon!

Since I don't know much about Joe, I asked the writer of Joe's upcoming stories, Seth Peck, to tell me a little about him: Joe is the result of a government experiment; where a bunch of scientists made a boy out of human and grey alien DNA. He lived in an underground bunker until the world ended. He grew up on a steady diet of pulp sci-fi and kung-fu movies, and pretty much draws his fighting style from those. He's slightly precognitive, which helps with the fighting. The book is about a weird but basically heroic young guy roaming an apocalyptic world and getting into fights. Andrew and I get to throw anything that appeals to us into the mix, and just have fun. There's a bigger story, with 21 other "experiments" also roaming the world, folks trying to survive, etc. and the first story is a 22 pager in Bad Karma Vol. 2 (probably out this Fall). We have bigger plans after that probably a series of OGNs... Well, I'll update this section after I've read a few Joe Mars stories, but in the meantime, everyone be on the lookout for Joe's first appearance in Bad Karma 2!
