DescriptionMarvel Fanfare #18 "Captain America: Home Fires" Page 6 by Frank Miller and Joe Rubinstein (Marvel, 1985). His tight, graphic style brought an edge to familiar characters that few other artists were able to match. This page is from one of Miller's rare takes on Captain America. Rubinstein's inks give it a polished sheen. This piece was exhibited in the Captain America TOONSEUM Exhibit in 2016. I remember as a kid, right before I got this page, that there was an article in the CBG about collecting comic art. Collecting original art wasn't a popular thing back then (at least for me and my friends). It talked about getting artwork from popular artists you like that are unaffordable. The article said to try to find pieces by the artists that they weren't known for (Non DD Miller was an example I believe). Then I heard about these pages for sale and jumped on it. I didn't feel like I was settling because it was such a great Cap page, no matter who did it. Yet it was a Miller/Rubinstein page. Looking back on how much I paid (or my dad paid) I wished I bought all of them. I know at least a couple of the pages went into the collection of Jim Halperin at Heritage and were displayed at an exhibit at the Rockwell Museum. Social/Sharing |

What a find! Great page!I remember I picked this up in the mid 80s from a dealer. Back then he mailed me photocopies of the pages and I picked this one. Another nod of appreciation to my dad for giving me the $ to buy it.

What a great Cap page! This is a portrayal of Cap in a detective role that is rarely seen. It's very fitting also because Miller is best known for two other heroes who put the lean on baddies for information: DD and the Dark Knight! Great rooftop images and signature Miller style! Congrats!
