DescriptionOkay, I promised a more detailed explanation about this piece so here goes. I was reading Scalped and I got so carried away in it that I contacted R.M. Guera, the mastermind who handles all art on that series, for a commission. My 25th birthday was coming up, and I thought what the hell. I was in a 'dark & gritty' mindset and by that I don't mean 'dark & gritty' like superhero movies tend to be nowadays (except the Marvel ones), but real fucking down and dirty. Scalped stuff.It took me a while for me to settle on Sin City. I also wanted - and still do - a Scalped commission, but something about the combination of Guera's style and Sin City just seemed to click. Few artists are able to take on Sin City and make it REALLY work. I thought Guera would be up for the task. Arguably the two most iconic characters of the series are Marv and Nancy and as luck would have it, I was looking for a two-character piece with the one character being a smoking hot dame and the other a down-on-his-luck badass who's into fisticuffs. Picking these two was a no-brainer. The rest of the commission experience was as smooth as it was quick - Guera is incredibly trustworthy, I gotta say. Guera himself said he felt inspired and had a great time working on this. To that, I can only say two things: thank you, and it motherfucking shows. Social/Sharing |
