DescriptionI grew up an X-Men fan. It was the book that got me into comics. I'm mainly a Marvel guy, but I also loved the Morrison/Porter/Dell JLA run. So naturally, when I found out Morrison would be getting his shot at the X-Men, I was psyched. That soon turned to disappointment. His run on the book just turned me off and eventually ended my love affair with the X-Men and comics in general for a time. What had he and Quitely done to Beast!?!But then I heard Marvel was handing Joss Whedon his own X-book. The mastermind of Buffy the Vampire Slayer would be bringing Marvel's Mighty Mutants to life? I was back! John Cassaday was at first, just an added bonus, but there's a reason that when Warren Ellis was once asked to describe Cassaday. His response was, 'the man is an illustration god'. And it's true! He's a modern day legend in the making. Adding this to my gallery is a dream come true and was a long time coming. A heartfelt thank you to fellow CAF member RolyH for sending this my way. As an X-Men fan, as a Beast fan, it's a piece I'll treasure. Social/Sharing |

Fantastic cover and a great writeup ! As a DC fan first and foremost(and a casual X-MEN reader) I also had high hopes for Morrison's run. I think I liked it better than you and faulted the weaker issues on the art (rushed jobs by Igor Kordey). Much like you, I was enjoying the early issues of Astonishing X-men and found "the cure" angle pretty interesting). Anyhow, congrats on this great addition to your amazing collection !

Whoa! Is this where you start exclusively collecting covers? Just kidding. Great piece!

I love write ups like yours. Of course there are always thoughts and emotions that go into choosing and buying a piece. It astonishes me when people throw stuff up in their galleries with absolutely nothing to say about it. I think it's a wonderful way for other collectors to get an insight on your personal connection to a particular piece of art. So congrats on this new addition and thanks for the story behind it.

If I didn't consider you a buddy, I would be insanely jealous right now. Cassaday is a favorite of mine, and this cover is perfection....and I am trying relaly hard not to use expletives right now lol. In all seriousness, I LOVE this piece, and LOVE that you got it.

Always love finding out where these covers have landed. So glad to hear you got the right one for you, as I am that I got my grail cover after so many years. Cassaday is legend, and this run was particularly wonderful, masterminded by Wheadon. Again, congratulations
