DescriptionInk12" x 18" This is the second piece of art I ever purchased, acquired in 1977 just a few months after my little Frazetta "T-Rex & Pterodactyl". It was first published as a frontispiece in SSoC #17 (Feb. 1977), and later appeared in "Conan the Barbarian" #115 (1980). Many years later, Joe Jusko 'recreated' the piece as a full painting which was then published as the cover to "Back Issue" #11 (July 2005). Social/Sharing |

Classic! One of my favorite Conan images by Big John. I used this in the intro to my book. Congrats!

The brooding Barbarian one of Big John's best images of Conan.

As a kid, I remember thinking that it reminded me of Rodin's "The Thinker" when I first saw it (which, at the time, I thought was an amusing thought). Now I think it is one of the most memorable images of Conan Big John ever drew, the barbarian in repose.

One of my favorite images of Buscema's Conan--says so much about Buscema and his brooding vision of the character. The linework is so organic and natural--just an amazing piece.

When I think of Buscema artwork this is the image that springs to mind. You are very lucky to have this.

Raw, pure, untouched Buscema. As good as it gets from this legendary Master.

I think I prefer Buscema's Conan over Frazetta's Conan. What an amazing piece you got here!! Love his expression and pose and everything!

The best Conan drawing ever done by Big John. This is unbelievably good and shows what John could do with the character if he had the time and of course the money to do so. Love this picture since I saw the frontipiece in the SSOC magazine at the time. Congratulations for this true gem !

Ah, and if Joe cannot afford to buy the two pieces from you when you will decide to part with them, I am respectuously placing myself being a definitive J.B. lover as a buyer for this piece that I cherish for decades. :-)
