Description

This is the first appearance of Bonny Shaw the main villain/boogie man in AND THEN EMILY WAS GONE...a great horror limited series (now collected in trade) by John Lees (writer) , Iain Laurie (artist) ,and Megan Wilson (colors).

I was fortunate to watch this book come together in the development stage..reading John's script...and seeing Iain's art bring it to life. On the script....I've never read a more riveting first script...I was literally emailing John the second I was finished asking for the next one. The guy is a serious talent and he's going to be big in comics. On the art...I love Iain's work. Its raw and honest. Not unlike Jeff Lemire ...it's not striving for classically trained artistic mastery....instead it flows out of him ...its visceral, raw, childlike in its honesty...and all together horrifying in the mark making. It's rare that I see art and it puts me in a mood...and Iain's work makes me a bit uneasy. I think in that way Iain's art enhances whatever terrible thing he is drawing at the time.

I was so excited about the book that I got Megan Wilson the colorist on board, did a variant cover for the series, and organized a handful of other guys to get on board to help out as well. I was really happy to help out and even happier to swindle Iain out of the main villains first appearance.
