Description

Andy Warhol has topped this price for a "recreation" of a Superman figure, but still -- $16.5 million is an outrageous sum to pay for what is basically a rip-off of another's artist work, a panel from some Grade-B romance comic book. C'mon, is this legit! Since Roy burst on the scene with his oversized, color, dot-pattern (yes, the old comic printing process expanded, blown-up, highlighted) the guy has made a mint in the selling of not only his originals, but prints of basically someone else's work. Editorializing done. Sure, you can expand on the work of another, have a gimmick, take an idea and commercialize it. But $16.5 million? Jeez!
