I picked up a different page from an eBay seller, and I asked if he had any others on which he was willing to take offers. I usually do this as I figure if I'm paying for shipping, I might as well try to get more bang for my buck. This page from a lesser-known Avengers limited series caught my eye. Hey, what collector of original super-hero genre comic art doesn't want a Thanos page? I actually have these Celestial Quest comics in my collection, I believe, but I don't have a strong memory of the plot. I'm not all that familiar with artist Jorge Santamar�a, who handled the pencilling chores on this title. The Grand Comics Database notes the inking duties were divided between Scott Hanna and Scott Koblish, but it's not clear which one of them worked on this page. My guess is it was Hanna; this strikes me as being in keeping with his style, but honestly, I can't be sure. Whoever did it, he did a solid job. I love the texture the inks bring to bear here. Just look at the flaming henchmen in the first panel, the wall behind Thanos and the foliage in Panel 4.

A couple of things that strike me about this page are the unconventional, diagonal layouts; the protrusion in the bottom of Panel 5; and the gold ink used to delineate the panel borders. As I noted already, I love that Thanos is included here, but I also enjoy the oddball lineup of Avengers. Sure, we have mainstays such as Thor, Vision and the Scarlet Witch, but there are more obscure characters such as Haywire (from Mark Gruenwald's Squadron Supreme) and Silverclaw.
