DescriptionHow often do you get to have the pencils by an artist like Gene Colan and separately the tremendous inking by legend Tom Palmer. That is right, Palmer inked this over a copy of the pencils and I was able to purchase both the pencils and the inks so you can see both.ToD was was of the most interesting comics of its day - incredible writing of a pretty vile character, Dracula, punched up by a phenomenally interesting group of people trying to take him down. That group was routinely defeated and members killed but they persevered on and on in the hunt. Just a great storyline all around. And, Gene's and Tom's artwork brought everything to life -- no better team for a tale of Vampires! Social/Sharing |

What a great pair! Colan's pencils are always amazing and Palmer's inks perfectly match with them!

BTW, congrats on securing both pieces. In the future, I hope that any such covers done on separate boards (including, but not limited to, this one) are sold together and not split up as they were in this auction. They really are better together.

I was considering bidding on the inked piece, but did not - great to see it found the perfect home together with its brother :-) And congrats, these are magnificent pieces!

You know when you look at cover like this you are instantly reminded of just how awesome the pairing of Gene and Tom was!
What a treat to be able to have a historic documentation of exactly how each artist worked together to produce the finished product.
Congrats on yet another incredible addition to your collection!

Congrats Michael. I like it because it also has Lilith which is rare to find on a cover
