DescriptionRay guns galore! Al loved Flash Gordon and the heroic tradition of the character. These Union Carbide ads became wonderful vehicles for Al to demonstrate his artistic mastery on a character he truly loved. He went all out on this one! The art on this piece is HUGE twice up board and contains some of the finest penciling and inking Williamson ever did. There are so many different inking techniques on this page that you have to behold it up close to absorb it all. Truly breath-taking. Plus, Flash is schlepping bakelite! So crazy.Social/Sharing |

Fantastic! Love all the Union Carbide pages. If I had not won the other Union Carbide art with Flash and Dale just before I would have gone after this. Nice to see it has a good home. Congrats!

This is Totally Insane! I love it and the idea behind it. Absolutely one of The Most Artistic pieces in terms of vision, technique and advertising. To say I am a tad envious is quite the understatement. This is only balanced by the knowledge that it is in the right collection. Bravo!

Damn what a great piece! The opening space scene, great old zip, classic ray guns, and to top it all off "Just remember that a Bakelite plastic helped save you." I gotta get me some of that Bakelite!!!

For decades I have wanted a nice representative page by the brilliant Al Williamson.
Now I realize what I've really been yearning for is injection-molded BMRS-5303 bakelite phenolic resin from Union Carbide for all my plastics needs!
