DescriptionI'd enjoyed putting together the "last issue spectacular" covers that Mitch did for me so much that I couldn't help but think about building out that 80's Crusaders universe.TJ has become a great go-to artist for me. Whether pure pencils or fully inked he's never let me down. After doing the initial covers for the "brand new era" I'm really happy he's been able to contribute to this version of the line-up as well. This one is inspired by Byrne's cover to Captain America #239. I ~love~ the shadows on the Shield here as well as that great mummy hand. TJ seems to do really great mummies :) Plus I dig the Dean Haspiel vibe that the Fox has here. A nice touch :) Chris had the perfect font choice here. The Mummy's Tomb is straight out of Hammer. Plus I was able to get him to color it as well. The colors on the sarcophagus and especially Shield's upper body are wonderful. As always, I hope Crusaders fans approve :) Original size 11x17 ------- In This Issue ... The first part of a two-part adventure. Rising up from the golden age is the evil of Ra-Hotep, the Mummy! Drawn by an overpowering sense of evil Mister Justice leads the team to a new exhibit at Chicago's Oriental Institute. Investigating, the Crusaders discover that one of the sarcophagi belongs to Firefly's old foe The Mummy! A wizard from the time of King Tut who had conspired against the pharaoh, Ra-Hotep was put to death and mummified. Now, in the present day, his sarcophagus is re-opened and Ra-Hotep rises from the dead! Already powerful, Ra-Hotep only becomes more dangerous once he steals the exhibit's magical Khepresh helmet. But can the Crusaders stop him before he obtains the Sekhem Scepter and becomes all powerful? This Issue's Cover ... Nebula, the Shield and the Fox react in horror to the opening of an ancient sarcophagus. Social/Sharing |
