Description

This is one of four Captain Atom pages by Pat Broderick I picked up in a package deal on eBay, but the focus here on Booster Gold and Mr. Miracle's investigation, despite it being in Captain Atom's book, lands it in my JLA gallery.

I think the use of shadows by inker Bob Smith throughout these Captain Atom pages. He aids writers Cary Bates and Greg Weisman to recast the silly heroes of the humor era of the Justice League as serious crime-fighters. It's not too jarring as the appearance wasn't in the Justice League International/America title itself.

I appreciate the textured backgrounds we get here, as well as all of the vintage-board goodness -- lettering right on the board, corrections, blue-pencil editing notes.

Signed by Broderick in pencil on the reverse. Marked in the lower right as Page 12 of the story, but it was actually Page 16 of the final printed comic book (as denoted in the upper right corner).
