Description

Another detailed pencil preliminary by Raymond for a painting. No one knows what the painting was used for or whether it was even published for what it was intended. Raymond did a piece featuring a cheerleader for LOOK magazine, and this piece seems to be a natural companion, but so far as I've been able to tell, it was never published by LOOK! The image area is 16" x 21". �The Catch� preliminary appears in Tom Roberts' excellent book ALEX RAYMOND: HIS LIFE AND ART, page 123. I purchased this original in July, 1996.

I've always thought that this was one of the very finest illustrations by my favorite comic artist -- can't believe that no one else has commented on this before.
