DescriptionCommissioned pieceWatercolor, Sumi ink and gouache on paper 14 3/4" X 20 1/4" I met Jason at the Illuxcon 2016 showcase event and thought his work was some of the best art at the show. I hit him up for this piece a few weeks back and he went at it like crazy. He also put lots of thought on what he wanted to do and here are some of his thoughts below. "Conception of these two iconic characters was such a joy. I felt like Bruce should be part Caesar part Toshiro Mifune. Samurai/Ronin themes leaked into his armor. I looked at a number of busts of Julius Caesar, sculptures by Rodin, and the aging faces of pro boxers when first drawing Bruce. Selina always struck me as dark and intense with a eagerness to get her hands just a little bloody. I gave her mask a little more theatrical presence. That theatrical quality of her mask is missing in most depictions of Catwoman. I wanted the whole thing to have an Operatic quality I think all superheros are peacocks to some extent. Bold and beautiful with their masks on but that's the show. Social/Sharing |

Wow. A lot of thought and symbolism in this one. Such a unique and interesting artistic take. From the beauty of the flowers and the peacock to the gruesome pile of soldiers' bodies, the content and style are quite striking. There will definitely never be another piece out there like this one! I love the solemn looks on Bruce and Selina's faces as they also try to figure out exactly what is going on in this piece. Well done!

What a damn cool addition, to what is becoming an immensely awesome (and I mean it as it is literally AWE-inducing) collection of Batman related and themed works.
