Description

Huge (15 x 20") spoof of the labors of Hercules lampooning how easy they would be to accomplish with the modern means of the late 19th century. The auction house estimated this was done around 1890 and possibly as a back cover of PUCK. Anyway, the drawing is both spontaneous and sensitive, expressive and refined. Trimmed and reassembled extensively to fit production size then cemented to another illustration board.
