This stellar page comes from the one-shot SUPERMAN: BLOOD OF MY ANCESTORS, written and illustrated by the great Gil Kane, but published posthumously. We get to see Kane's unique vision of The Man of Steel as he battles a pretty enormous foe that definitely feels right out of H.P. Lovecraft. Supes in action and shown in every panel here, and Kane is inked by the incredible Kevin Nowlan. While I love classic Gil Kane, there's an undeniable fine polish on this work thanks to Nowlan's amazing inking... just imagine if they had collaborated on more after this. I met Gil back in the old Dallas Fantasy Fair days, always friendly and smiling, but it wasn't until many years later that I realized just how brilliant he was. As someone who pursues Superman pages, I'm really stoked to own this piece by one of the industry's most important legends, and the fact that Kevin Nowlan's hands worked on this is also cause for excitement.
