Description

Bernie Wrightson, known primarily for his fantastic work in comics on titles like Swamp Thing and Heavy Metal, as well as his magnum opus illustrations for Frankenstein, also did concept design for a number of films.

One such film is Ghostbusters (1984), or as Bernie labeled it here during pre-production "The Ghost Busters."

This is a concept painting he did for Gozer's temple and the two Terror Dogs that guard it. The temple is seen at the finale of the film at the top of Dana's building, where the Ghostbusters have a final battle with Gozer and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. The Terror Dogs are seen throughout the film with the characters played by Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis.
