Description

The reinvigoration of my youthful fascination of Robin came with the Young Justice animated series, in 2011. Intrigued, I looked up the original comic book series, and became enraptured by the youthful enthusiasm and cartoonist expressionism of the artwork. Also, that goofy 90's hairstyle was, like, the coolest thing to an 11 year-old with a semi-buzz cut. What I remember most about this interaction was me presenting Mr. Nauck with some of my artwork and he and his wife dispensing some quality advice. The chief takeaway was "you will get rejections, but don't let this discourage you. I applied 10 times before I got my first work."

I was quite pleased with this lively, juicy marker sketch; though, I must confess, I was a bit bummed at the time that Robin looked so dour, since it was such a fun series, but I still cherish this piece and the story that goes along with it.
