Tony Sandoval - 1000 Storms Watercolor Page

The color use in this Mille Tempetes (1000 Storms) page is quite beautiful. Using a limited palette of earth tones, Sandoval conveys a lovely richness, combined with a lightness of touch. What drew me to the page was a Jeff Jones sort-of-vibe, found especially in that last panel. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's there for me. The panel is contemplative and heartbreaking.

As with many of Tony's stories, this book deals with loss. It features Lisa, one of his beautifully drawn strange-girls, as she is out looking for things that she collects. She eventually goes into a world drawn in a much different style, with heavier pen & ink line work instead of the softer pencil and watercolor tones.
