Description

The Young All-Stars don't get nearly enough respect, so I thought it was time to fix that...

Strictly, this isn't part of my ongoing all-Star Squadron continuation series (as it's not based on the cover of a comic a Roy Thomas wrote) - but I found a copy of JC Productions' 1983 T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents #1 recently, which Lou Manna drew, and couldn't help but see a version which features the Young All-Stars (and a few guest-stars from the main team - plus it gave me the chance to feature the international heroes from the 'Atom And Evil' storyline as well). Since Lou's associated with the Young All-Stars he was the perfect choice to re-imagine his own cover.

In my head-canon. this is the one-off Special which DC gave Roy to let him wrap up the Young All-Stars story, inducting them into the main group after issue #31 of their own title --- and which he would also have used to reveal what had happened to Commander Steel, who didn't make any interior appearances in YAS, from what I can remember.

... and it did amuse me to have Lou substitute Dan The Dyna-Mite in place of T.H.U.N.D.E.R. agent John 'Dynamite' Adkins!

Lou was really great to work with on this - fast and responsive - and hopefully I'll be able to get him to contribute to my main All-Star Squadron series at some point.
