Cannon C 94

Wally Wood: Cannon Sunday Comic Strip #C-94 (Wood and Richter, 1973). Wood's Cannon strip was published in military newspapers during the Vietnam War era and featured his ravishing (and occasionally naked) women, fist fights, fast cars, and international intrigue, and this Sunday has it all. This was the only Cannon strip to have been presented in this format, originally having a wonderful original stat of the naked Elena running down the left side of the page (Panel 5). The stat is unfortunately missing, but could easily be replaced. The strip is on two pieces of thin Bristol board and showcases Wood's quick-paced action-adventure story. The ink and Zipatone over blue pencil pages measure approximately 16.75" x 23.5" in all. (Heritage description)

I have to disagree with Heritage. The missing panel with Elena was an original drawing done as a separate piece, not just a stat. It was never glued on as there's no evidence of glue residue. Also, it CANNOT easily be replaced! This was the only time that Wood drew a panel that crossed over between the two halves and surely it must have presented some production problems.
I have added a photo of the printed page as it appeared in Cannon No. 3, which Wood self-published in 1979.
Wood has been credited as the sole artist although he had many assistants working on the strip. The last panel is just so classic Wood!
