Description
This is another "Good things come to those who wait" stories... Back in 1992 when John Byrne wrapped up his epic run on She-Hulk, he went out with a bang with Issue 50 and some of his artist friends contributed pages to the over-sized issue. Walt Simonson is one of John's best friends in the industry and he drew this incredible splash page and gave it to John when he received the artwork back from Marvel. I saw the original art on a visit to John's soon after he received it from Walt and asked him to please earmark it for me if he ever parted with it. John kept the page in his files and I'd get to look at it when I visited him over the years.

Flash forward to 2005, John Byrne moved and I visited him at his new house and was going through the art files and realized this page was not there. John figured it was misplaced during the move and it never surfaced again until this year. I was helping John organize a bunch of comics in a downstairs storage room and found this splash on a shelf! I jokingly told him that I'd be a much better caretaker of this page as it would never be misplaced at my home and he said I could have it!!

After coveting the page for over 25 years, it is now framed up in my entertainment room where I can see it every day! I'll likely never be able to obtain a Simonson inked cover or splash from his classic run on Thor, but this page captures much of that magic in my eyes. The image of She-Hulk spinning Thor's hammer is stunning and I love all of the details Walt added to the background. John Workman's classic lettering is the icing on the cake!

Ugh, I literally just read this issue to my daughters a few months ago and when we got to this page we all marveled at it—and I thought to myself, “I guess Simonson still has this.”  Congrats on an amazing piece—very jealous!!

Wow - loved that issue and can't believe it's a generation old.  The simonson and miller pages were the best guest-shots, IIRC, so get back to Byrne's and keep organinzing!
