I do not own many prelims, but I love this little piece by Lehr. In fact, I prefer it to the larger finished piece! This is sometimes the case -- the initial attempt at capturing the image often has such energy and "vitality" (for lack of a better word).

Prelim for the cover to the 1979 Bantam Book.
