Description

Here's the latest in my All-Star Squadron continuation commission series - issue #80, based as always on the cover of a comic written, plotted or scripted by Roy Thomas. This one, drawn by Shawn van Briesen, homages the cover of the final issue (#4) of the 1993 Invaders mini-series.

In plot terms, this concludes the Baron Blitzkrieg / Axis Of Evil trilogy - although Kung was captured in the previous issue, the Baron, Zyklon and Armageddon escaped. The All-Stars, including socialite Sandra Knight (who's visiting her cousin Ted in New York) continue their hunt for the villains, but it's Midnight who finds the other two members of the Baron's team - Night and Fog - and traces them to Blitzkrieg's hideout!

Midnight's call for support brings both Starman and Phantom Lady, as well as Mr America and the Guardian, and the five Squadron members engage with the villains. After an epic battle, the heroes are victorious, and Armageddon is captured, but Baron Blitzkrieg flies off, Zyklon speeds away, and Night and Fog fade into the darkness --- perhaps to face the All-Stars again in the future!
