Description

It was extremely sad news to hear of the very recent passing of Stan Lee. His genius was unparalleled in the world of comic art and his partnership with so many great artists enriched the world and clearly made it a much better and enjoyable place for me. Now decades on, the influence of his work still resonates with me. I never had an opportunity to meet with him in person, although through the immense kindness of Jim McLauchlin at The Hero Initiative, I managed to obtain a personalized message on a Spider-Man Omnibus Edition.

As Rubén aptly observed, writing a tribute to Stan Lee would take a long time and repeat much of what has been (and will be) said, and so I hope he does not mind if I copy him and put up this piece (which I, in fact, obtained from Rubén himself) in remembrance of, and as a tribute to, a great man and unique individual. This particular cover itself is an homage to Frank Miller's cover for Daredevil #174.

How could I possibly mind? I didn't feel it was my place to ask, but I was actually hoping you would post this cover, so I appreciate you doing so. The things that most of us feel and would like to express would certainly be redundant, though I still very much appreciate seeing fans all over the internet writing brief mentions to show that they too were one of the millions positively affected by the simple existence of Stan Lee. A very different sort of "Me Too" movement, with all due respect accorded to the original.
