DescriptionGot my Bradshaw cover! And it’s a favorite from the series that made me take notice of his work in the first place! With Wolverine! And Frankenstein! In battle! Yeah, I’m excited :) My last few posts were by artists from Marvel’s 2014 Young Guns class so I decided to keep it going with this baby! Picked it up from ComicLink’s Featured auction late last year.I’ve wanted a Bradshaw cover for a bit but hadn’t found that combo of right illustration/right character(s)/right price, until now. I was first really introduced to Nick’s work on Wolverine and the X-Men, which I think might be his longest run on interiors, at least for Marvel. He followed up Chris Bachalo with issue 4 and was on and off for a couple of years. With Jason Aaron writing, the book was wacky colorful fun, and I think Nick’s art style fit perfectly with the tone, including in the more dramatic and humorous scenes. And of course with action scenes and shots, like here! Nick’s art feels like a nice blend of Mike Wieringo’s cartooniness and Art Adams’s detail - definitely works! First off, gotta have Wolvie. Down, but of course not out, looking mean and undeterred with claws unsheathed! Love the detail of the costume, particularly of the damaged mask. Also, I like Wolverine’s classic look (brown and tan can’t be beat!) but did like the subtle change with the less flaring mask points added in Whedon/Cassaday’s Astonishing X-Men, that they used for this series. Second, this is my first piece featuring the Frankenstein monster, so that’s cool! Great shot here with a newer look/costume and with the upper hand. Lastly, I dig the rain effect and perspective – worm’s eye makes these characters look more like what they are – larger than life! I actually have an interior from this book (Wolvie slicing through Frank’s arm – check it out!) and now the cover – yes! Missed a couple of these covers initially so glad to have nabbed this the next time around! Hope y’all like! Social/Sharing |

Nick's ink details are a feast for the eyes. Don't have my Bradshaw ... yet. This is great - congrats!

Congrats on nabbing this beautiful Bradshaw cover! As someone who previously owned this gem, I know how amazing it looks in person. And geez, after reading your glowing description, I am having major seller's remorse! Lol

I owned this for a bit and was sorry to have to let it go as I think Bradshaw is awesome and this is just a highly cool and unlikely cover image. Great get. Bravo!

Sorry you had to let it go but ‘tis in in good hands, Jason! And I totally agree the image is highly cool in large part, as you say, due to how unlikely the matchup between these 2 is! Thanks for the comment, man!
