Description

�� Aaron Lopresti was set up at Emerald City Comic Con in Artist Alley. I often find some strong preliminary drawings in his portfolio. I love this image of Uncle Sam rolling up his sleeves. In the days of DC 100-Page Super Spectaculars of the early 1970's, the company reprinted some old Quality Comics stories featuring Uncle Sam. The character also appeared in one of the Justice League/Justice Society crossovers. It turns out this was an incomplete, unfulfilled idea for an Archie 1941 cover. Aaron wanted to incorporate Uncle Sam onto the cover, but could not imagine them fighting each other. He drew Archie with a couple friends in the foreground backed by a soldier, sailor, and marine.
