Description

"High over Borovia, a B2 bomber flies. In its bomb bay are Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Storm shadow applies the Arashikage mind set; turning Snake Eyes into a lethal machine. Stalker and Storm Shadow watch as Snake Eyes deploys." - T. Jacobson

About the art itself:
I love everything about this page sequence and the next which I was also able to find. The moodiness, the reflection off the water, the deep breath before the plunge! I think Emberlins inks landed well here, complimentary to Brights penciling. I really dig the shadows and the pale coloring used by Bob Sharen. I always appreciated the more mature tones of the comic. Although I enjoyed the show for what it was, I now am a bit more partial to the comic for its staying power. Featuring arguably the two most popular Joes, under cover of night, on the verge of a top secret, coup de gras-rescue mission for Snake Eyes. The relationship between these two goes way back to the Arashikage days so it's cool to see them interact here as allies. The comics and show were always really good at including the details of the figures and having had both these versions of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow just adds to my enjoyment of this story and these two pieces

The meaning behind it Chapter 1:
Man the story I have with this book is a kid's version of a Cobra sneak attack. I learned a valuable lesson in the consequences of youthful promises and honor, or lack thereof, looking at the bright side and determination.

So in 1990, G.I. Joe's were my favorite toys. I was under 10 and so that was still okay haha, whatever haha, they pretty much still are! Anyway, I had received the Phantom X-19 stealth fighter for birthday or christmas and I freaking LOVED that thing! It was by far the biggest, baddest Joe vehicle I had and here in 'Merica size matters when your 7 and your playing Joes with your friends and you show up to the fight with this guy, the enemy is glad they wore their brown pants.

So one evening a "friend", who I will call "Richard", shows up for a play date and he brings along a couple comics to show me. A real Ghostbusters and this issue of ARAH. As his parents were at the door talking with mine, he saw my interest in the comics as I didnt have more than a couple at that time. What happened next has been the debated bane of my existence for years but ultimately I have come here to declare victory! Basically Richard agreed to "loan" me his two thoroughly-read comics in exchange for my agreeing to his "temporary use" of my Phantom X-19, with the understanding that the exchange was not a "trade" in the permanent sense of the word.
