This was my FIRST PIECE OF OA THAT I PURCHASED. I can thank the wonderful Pat Gleason for getting me addicted to this rewarding hobby. It was a beautiful summer day in San Diego when I first met Pat at Comic-Con International. And I had the great chance to tell him how much fun I had reading Aquaman #22. This was the best experience I have ever had at a con and this page will forever remind me of that time.

The Eel may seem as if he has the upper hand against Aquaman as the antagonist can manipulate water, but our man Arthur can influence sea life of all shapes and sizes, including the krill he has invade The Eel's head to defeat him.

Don't mess with Aquaman, folks.

This is a cool page, Ryan - congrats on your great taste in first original art pages! :) I really like the character design of the Eel, and it feels like a sly wink to the viewer to stage that last panel as a dramatic 'silhouette' shot... when that's really the color of the character's costume. But no more odd than a school of krill saving the day - what a fun page! Congrats!

Thanks, Jason! I've been following your art and comments on other people's art. It's an honor to have you comment on mine. I appreciate your attention to detail.

Nothing like comics could give us something both as goofy and somehow simultaneously bad ass as krill saving the day, huh? And The Eel is still a favorite of mine. Yet another DC character that I don't think has reached his full narrative potential.
