Description

In addition to the two pages I already own from this issue, featuring Superman saving Pete Ross from an assassin's bullets, I'm adding this page from early on in the story when Superman is busy fighting off Parademons, those soldiers of Apokolips commanded by Darkseid. The strange thing is that this annual starts off literally in the middle of the fight, and this is happening in the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, not on Apokolips. Though perhaps that's because the story began in the Superman Annual from that same summer. It's been almost 30 years, so I don't remember.

Anyway, a nice action oriented page featuring Superman in every panel is always a nice to get, and having some guest stars like the Parademons and also Kalibak in the last panel is a nice bonus. This is a pre-Death of Superman page, and if I remember correctly, I believe this is Denis Rodier's first job working over Grummett's pencils.

Awesome Grummett page! Kalibak, like Frankenstein's monster, rises from the dead! The only difference is that Kalibak is uglier!

An excellent page! And so cool that 1) as you pointed out, Superman is in every panel, 2) you own three interiors from the same issue, and 3) Kalibak lives again! (I missed that guy)

Parademon pages are so fun. I love the swarm effect as they pile on in their appearances. Congrats on a great action page!
