Description
Galactus challenges the Phoenix to a fight. "Who is the greater evil, Starchilde... I, the devourer of life that has run its course... or you, who denies existence to generations of the future?"

This has the feel of an Alan Davis Excalibur 61 Phoenix vs. Galactus unpublished cover/interior splash. It has Alan Davis pencils and thanks to Larry Tun, Mark Farmer inks.

I don't know the origin, but I do know that's a very cool page. Have you considered messaging Alan Davis or his art rep to ask? Congrats on a great page!

JH,

This is what I got from the offical Alan Davis website.

“I'm afraid it just isn't possible to validate the authenticity of any page from a scan. The best we can suggest is for you to consult the Unpublished Pencils section of Alan's website. There are scans of the vast majority of Convention predraws Alan has drawn over the years so you can make your own comparison.  We always advise any collectors to follow the maxim Caveat Emptor and do not buy a page from anyone you do not trust. Sorry we cannot be more accommodating.

Whatever it was for it's a great piece. I loved Davis' work on Excalibur, I don't think anyone since then has used Rachel Summers as well.

I am the original owner of this art.

I purchased It directly from Alan, via one of
his random art drops. He’d send an email out to everyone on his mailing list, saying a couple days later at, a specific time, he’d have art for sale on his website.

It was all finished pencil sketches like this one, and they all got snapped up instantly. No published pages. All just finished pencils.

Side note. It was the most expertly packaged piece of art I’ve ever received. I felt like I was opening a parcel from a museum. Lol
