Description

As the release of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 approached, Sega Europe sought to create a distinctive visual identity that would differentiate it from the North American and Japanese markets. What resulted was one of the largest marketing campaigns in video game history.

This piece of artwork was the first piece commissioned by Sega Europe and was published on various media: a promotional game box, standees, a calendar, signage, clothing, and various posters, including the release poster and a pack-in poster for various games as an advertisement. Notably, this painting is one of the few Sonic pieces to be paired with its original title artwork.

Acrylic airbrushed paints on illustration board at 16.5 x 23.4 inches (A2) size.

I remember playing the Sonic 2 demo at a Fred Meyer waiting for its release as a kid! Very cool!
