Strange Death of Alex Raymond page

September 6 1956: Alex Raymond pays his colleague Stan Drake an unexpected visit. Drake is busy drawing Juliet Jones strips and doesn´t like to be interrupted. He is civil and forthcoming though and agrees to Raymond´s suggestion: That they take a ride together and let Raymond test Drake´s new, shiny Corvette. This fateful trip ended, as we know, with Raymond being killed.

This page was published in Glamourpuss 15 as page 23.It is part of Sim´s history of photo-realism, which morphed into his Strange Death of Alex Raymond project.
The Raymond portrait here is drawn in Raymond´s preferred style at the time, photo-realism with the use of brush. The Drake portraits are drawn in Drake´s style - mostly exquisite photo-realism with the use of a mix of pen and brush (portrait 1 and 3), occasionally a caricature (the second portrait). In the second portrait, where Drake´s inner feelings are exposed, he literally flips his wig (he did indeed wear a wig at the time). Behind Drake we can see a framed Juliet Jones Sunday page.
However, Sim missed a tiny but important detail in this Glamourpuss page, and therefore it will not be part of the collected Strange Death of Alex Raymond story, wherever and however it will be published. Sim has explained everything on the backside of the page!
