This is an incredibly rare original proof page for Rip Kirby, the classic detective action and adventure newspaper strip that began back in 1946. This is a proof for 6 consecutive strips, with the episodes from 3/29/48 - 4/3/48! This is from early on, when the strip was illustrated by the legendary Alex Raymond, who is of course one of the all-time greats and known for classic work on Flash Gordon and Secret Agent X-9. This is a black and white proof, featuring beautiful artwork by Raymond. The proof sheet measures approximately 8 1/4" by 18", and is on thin newsprint-type paper. It is in very good overall condition, particularly considering its age (more than 70 years old!), with minor handling wear and edgewear. There is a small edgewear tear near the top left edge of the second strip, and some slight edgewear tearing at the top middle edge of the paper. Please note that this is NOT a mass-produced print, lithograph, or poster reproduction. This is a very cool and rare comic collectible that you will hardly ever get a chance to see. Also, considering the cost of original art done by Raymond (forget about a Flash Gordon Sunday!), this is a much more reasonable way to own a piece of production art from one of the great strips in American history, and a true landmark in the detective/action genre. And what makes this even more special is that this is a truly outstanding example, with great images!
