DescriptionOne of the aspects I really enjoyed about the X-Men Forever series, aside from the art in the issues Tom Grummett drew, was the pairing of Colossus and the Black Widow. The relationship didn't play a big role in the title, in fact only being the focus of a short story arc, but with both characters being of Russian origin, why not?Though I have to mention that even all these decades later, I STILL feel weird anytime Colossus is shown with a love interest while Kitty is also standing around. I still get that sense of awkwardness I got the first time it happened. I suppose that's a real testament to the great relationship Claremont created for Kitty and Peter when he paired them up all those years ago. Grummett and Austin gave the Black Widow a great Romita-esque 1970's era vibe here and although I'm a purist who usually hates it when creators design new costumes to replace the classic ones that characters are most associated with, even I will admit that I really like the outfit Grummett designed for Colossus in this series. I don't like it better than his original one, mind you, but I find it has lots of eye appeal and love that it is Russian inspired in particular. Social/Sharing |

Great piece Ruben. I agree with you, Grummett and Austin really captured the Romita-vibe. The image Black Widow makes you wonder just how dangerous she is, and if it may be worth finding out.

Drawing the Black Widow in her classic 70s style was a great choice. I really like the layout, too, and backed with that web. Another great Grummett piece. Be careful, or you're going to inspire us all to snipe all your favorite pages, Ruben! ;) Congrats

OK, Ruben, this is definitley one of your better Grummett pieces. Really stunning and I love how Terry Austin inked Tom's pencils. They work beautifully together. And, I also agree that Natasha has a 1970's Romita vibe to her. Just one question--are you going to leave any of this beautiful Grummett art for the rest of us to buy?? :-) Congrats on another great addition to your Grummett art collection!

Glad you appreciate the look of this one, Steve! To answer your question: As long as I can help it, NO.

Nice montage-y movie poster feel to this one! It's cool seeing BW paired with the X-Men this way - definitely rare! Also really liking the pose on BW - so Natasha :) Congrats on yet another GGG (great Grummett get)!
