Description

Mike Maihack started drawing Supergirl and Batgirl comic strips many years back (here's the first) and would draw a new one every once in a while as a holiday tradition. They're really fun and unapologetically upbeat takes on the two characters (that occasionally riffed on what was happening in the comics), and I definitely recommend checking them out if that sounds appealing.

For Inktober this year, Mike did 31 different sketches of Supergirl and Batgirl based on a word prompt for each day of the month. He tried out some new techniques in these sketches, and it was fun seeing him experiment a bit. This sketch was one of the funniest (in my eyes), so even though I missed out on some others, I'm still pretty happy to pick this up. It features Supergirl playing around in Batman's armored suit (à la Dark Knight Returns) and pretending to be all grim and dark while Batgirl wards her off (with Batman looming in the background). It's a nice gag that I felt came the closest to capturing the spirit of Mike's earlier comic strips.

Mike's Inktober pieces are all wonderful and this one is really funny. I picked up Hide.
